Mists of Pandaria global launch events detailed

Comment

We love Blizzard, but why they got to be so secretive sometimes? It’s a question that’s bothered us for years, often explained away with glum talk of corporate culture, now finally answered: All along, they’ve been busy organising a party and didn’t want to spoil the surprise, silly!

On September 24th, eve of Mists of Pandaria’s launch, several official events are planned at retailers in the US, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and the UK.

The UK’s London event will be held at Café de Paris on Coventry Street in partnership with GAME, and will include loot giveaways, presentations from senior game designer Scott Mercer and senior software engineer Darren Williams and, unfeasibly, a procession. Expect Chinese New Year with a keynote from prominent nerds. A better Chinese New Year.

“We can’t wait to meet up with players around the world and celebrate with them at the official launch events,” said Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime as he emerged unceremoniously from the rear end of a gigantic paper dragon. “A lot of hard work and long hours went into making Mists of Pandaria a truly epic expansion, so we’re really looking forward to coming together and having some fun with the community before everyone takes off for the new continent.”

There’ll be bog standard midnight launches happening at GAME stores all over the country, where I’m afraid the processions will have to be DIY. For specifics on all of the events planned globally, lookee here. What about you? Will you be making the trip to meet Blizzard’s furry ambassadors?
