Final Fantasy XV’s system requirements show that, yes, 4K gaming requires a good PC

Final Fantasy XV

If you’ve been waiting patiently for Final Fantasy XV to arrive on PC, avoiding spoilers and staring at the promise of mod support with intense cravings to play along with everyone else, your time is almost here. The game comes out soon, the PC demo is even out, and so the system requirements are now available.

There’s three tiers of requirements: minimum, recommended, and 4K. The PC demo is a good way to double-check if your PC is up to the task, but early reports on the demo are claiming that the game is pretty well optimised.

So, without further ado, here’s the system requirements:
Minimum requirements (720p/30fps):

  • Windows 7 SP1/ Windows 8.1 / Windows 10 64-bit
  • Intel Core i5-2500 (3.3GHz and above) or AMD FX-6100 (3.3GHz and above)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon R9 280
  • 8GB memory
  • Over 100GB free space (SSD recommended)

Recommended requirements (1080p/30fps):

  • Windows 7 SP1/ Windows 8.1 / Windows 10 64-bit
  • Intel Core i7-3770 (3.4GHz and above) or AMD FX-8350 (4.0 GHz and above)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB VRAM or Radeon RX 480
  • 16GB memory
  • Over 100GB free space (SSD recommended)

4K HDR requirements (2160p/30fps or 1440p/60fps):

  • Windows 10 64-bit Fall Creators update
  • Intel Core i7-7700 (3.6GHz and above) or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X (3.6GHz and above)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
  • 16GB memory
  • Over 155GB free space (SSD recommended)

Good luck running it on 4K and with HDR – it really does need a beefy rig.
