97% rated, Factorio style Steam simulation game is now completely free, forever

Combining the automation of Factorio and Satisfactory with the world of PC operating systems, ABI-DOS has just been made a free Steam game.

ABI-DOS free Steam

If you love building intricate simulations in Factorio, or enjoy watching industrial complexes tick by in Satisfactory, ABI-DOS is the game for you. With a 97% positive rating after just a few months on Steam, this circuit-based automation game challenges you in ways few games do. Best of all, it's just been made free to keep, for everyone, forever.

ABI-DOS is all about building circuits. Using UBITS (digital colored blocks) and wires, your goal is to manipulate inputs to create a desired output, which depends on the goal for that level. You might be fixing corrupt files or recovering an image, and to do that you've got to use your head to solve problems. The free Steam game has no determined solutions and requires absolutely no programming experience, even if it looks like it might at a glance.

With chill vibes and over 50 puzzles to complete, ABI-DOS takes the scary world of computing systems and turns it into a challenge anyone can overcome. If you love how Factorio and Satisfactory adapt industrial automation into a puzzle to be solved, I can't recommend ABI-DOS enough. Or, you might be an engineer with an awful lot of downtime. Either works. Originally a paid game, ABI-DOS is now totally free.

Developer ABI-DOS Software says the decision to make the game free "comes after modest sales during the first month and a half after release. While the game was still profitable, financial gain was never my primary motivation (I have an independent job outside of game development).

"Now, my goal is to reach a wider audience. If significant revenue isn't feasible, I'd much rather let more people experience and enjoy the game for free."

ABI-DOS is what many call a 'Zach-like,' a game heavily inspired by the work of developer Zachtronics. Founded by Zach Barth, the studio is well-known for making puzzle games that heavily focus on engineering, with the likes of Infinifactory and Opus Magnum being some of the developers' most popular works. So if you love diving into the minute details of assembly lines and code, or just love a game with delightful retro style, ABI-DOS is for you.

ABI-DOS has so many wires, circuits, and UBITS that the game even has a quick reference guide. The guide's 12 pages are styled after old-school tech manuals, and give you the perfect reference for when your screen starts filling up with blocks that fly across the screen. So if you ever get lost, just refer to the manual.

ABI-DOS is now available as a free Steam download alongside a demo. You can find it here.
