It’s December 23, the holiday spirit is in the air, and that old feeling has reawakened within – you need to murder some medieval soldiers with Christmas presents. Luckily, the folks behind the new Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition have released a new mod that lets you satisfy your wintry war plans in a constructive way.
The Winter Celebration mod does the obvious stuff, like dusting the land and trees with snow, but it also makes some more fun alterations. Arrows have been replaced with icicles, spears have been replaced with candy canes, snowballs have replaced cannonballs, and trebuchets will now launch deadly gifts at your opponents.
You can grab the mod from the official site (via PC Gamer), but you’ve only got a limited amount of time to do it – the mod will disappear from circulation sometime in January, unless you’ve already claimed it. If you want year-round Christmas cheer, grab the download before it’s too late. The devs haven’t yet specified when the murderous weapons of merriment will be pulled down.
