Amy Hennig’s new game with Dead Space studio Visceral won’t be “Star Wars Uncharted”

Dead Space studio Visceral Games are working on a new Star Wars game for EA, headed up by Amy Hennig – the mind behind Naughty Dog’s acclaimed Uncharted series. Despite both Uncharted and Visceral’s Star Wars game being story-focused third-person action games, Hennig says it won’t just be “Star Wars Uncharted”, however.

Visceral’s Star Wars isn’t due until 2018, but here’s our list of all the other upcoming PC games.

In an interview with Glixel, Hennig says, while the games will be”spiritually similar”, this Star Wars project will be its own thing.

The Uncharted games are Nathan Drake’s story, where Star Wars usually follows an ensemble cast, even spending time with the bad guys. In these space-based dramas, the audience knows much more than the protagonists, so – considering Hennig’s passion for videogame stories – this is where the distinction will lie. Oh, and maybe there will be lightsabers.

The interview also reveals that Hennig was initially worried about signing up, for what could be a quick cash-in.”Imagine how heartbreaking it would be to work on something I love so much only to be crushed under the combined wheels of EA, Lucasfilm, and Disney,” she said.

In the end, what convinced her to take the gig was the promise of a close collaboration with Lucasfilm, specifically with Kiri Hart, the head of the company’s story group, and Doug Chiang, Lucasfilm’s executive creative director.

The Star Wars game from Visceral is just one of multiple Star Wars projects on the way from EA. DICE are currently at work on Star Wars Battlefront 2, due for release towards the end of 2017. Visceral’s Star Wars will follow in 2018.
