Unreal Engine 4.5 has been released, bringing with it a slew of new tools to help make video games look even more shiny; some are even made by the community. Animation retargeting, light map UV generation and “real-time ray traced soft shadows” are just a few amongst the new additions.
If none of that means very much to you, don’t worry: we’ve got some nifty demo videos below to demonstrate.
The development team have also made the engine easier to use with an “all new tutorial system” which will make it easier to for beginners to make games. They’ve also added new game templates for both “Advanced Vehicles” and “Twin Stick Shooters” to help you get started.
Along with all the features added by the Unreal Engine development team, over 40 features and improvements were contributed by generous community developers. Thanks chaps!
