It’s refreshing to hear about a Kickstarter success that not only delivers on its promise, but does so a year ahead of schedule.
Delivering like this on Kickstarter can really bode well for future projects, as proved by Battletech’s Kickstarter making all the world’s money in a very short time.
Animal Gods is a fully illustrated, top-down, 2D action RPG that looks to take more than a little inspiration from the classic The Legend of Zelda games.
Players adopt the role of Thistle, a young priest and hunter. “Thistle’s journey will take her to tall mysterious forests, fields of stone and even discover a lost world,” says the press release. “Set in a ravaged ancient European setting, our hero sets out to stop an arcane cult’s leader and release the cursed Gods of old.”
The RPG boasts a non-linear world that allows you to tackle dungeons in any order, a wonderful painterly art style, and fast-paced combat that blends melee and ranged abilities. The Steam release for Animal Gods is October 12 for PC, Mac and Linux.
