Anno 1800 is free this week, and the second DLC is out next month

Ubisoft's city-builder is also going free on Uplay all week long.

Ubisoft just announced a slate of updates for Anno 1800. Following the launch of Sunken Treasure DLC a few weeks ago, Botanica will hit on September 10. On top of that, you’ll be able to get into a free trial for the game during Gamescom, and this will even give you a preview of some new features scheduled for a future update.

The Anno 1800 trial is currently available on both Uplay and the Epic Games store, until August 25. It’s not quite a fully-featured experience, as it only offers the first three tiers of sandbox mode – but you will be able to play multiplayer. You’ll also get a chance to check out the new day/night cycle in this trial, which is scheduled to hit the full game for free alongside the Botanica DLC.

Botanica will let you build a Botanical Garden, which opens up a whole new world of tourism possibilities, along with commensurate items and rewards. The DLC will also add a new Musical Pavilion that’ll play tracks from previous Anno games as you’re building your city.

The new content trailer (US mirror here) also offers a quick tease of the third DLC, the Passage, which will offer you the chance to build trading airships.

The Anno 1800 season pass is available for $24.99 / £20.99. The previous DLC was offered standalone for $11.99 / £9.99, so it’s safe to expect a similar price for Botanica.
