March 12, 2019 Respawn confirms that you shouldn’t expect the Apex Legends battle pass today.
Earlier today, an early update hit the Origin store which offered initial details on the Apex Legends battle pass, including its price. This lined up with an earlier set of rumours which suggested that the battle pass (and the new Legend, Octane) would be out today, but it seems that’s not to be – Respawn has confirmed that they won’t be hitting quite that soon.
In a post to the game’s official subreddit, a Respawn rep says “We’ll be providing details on Season 1, Battle Pass, and the next Legend very soon. It’s not coming out today.” The post also suggests that you should take all the recent datamining should be taken with a grain of salt – not necessarily because it’s inaccurate, but because the direction on new Legends changes all the time.
The Origin store update – and there’s currently no reason to doubt the details it mentioned – featured the headline “Welcome to the Wild Frontier,” next to an image of Octane. Under that, it says “Survive the arena, meet the Apex Games’ latest Legend, Octane, wield new weapons and score unique loot.” The price is set at 950 Apex Coins, or just under $10 USD.
This addition was picked up in multiple Reddit posts and tweets, so it’s certainly legit – it’s just a question of whether or not the update was meant for today. A leak on the Octane release date suggested he and the battle pass would launch on March 12 – today – but despite it all lining up, it seems it was not meant to be.
Another recent leak suggests new weapons like flamethrowers could hitting the game soon, but whether it’s alongside the battle pass remains to be seen.
