Where are rusted gears in Arc Raiders? We've come up against some pretty hefty challenges in Arc Raiders so far. From dodging rockets with a full bag of loot to being hunted by enemy squads in Buried City, it's a pretty hostile world out there, but when we say we would do all of that again ten times over if it meant not having to find another rusted gear, we mean it.
The Arc Raiders workshop benches are vital for progress, and being able to craft your own high-level gear before going out into the Arc Raiders map has often been the difference between getting home with loot and leaving it on our corpse for the next player. You can't craft high-level gear without upgrading these benches, though, and for the gunsmith, you'll need rusted gears.
Where to find rusted gears
We'll say it right now: rusted gears are our nemesis. They spawn in industrial areas, apparently, but hours of searching often came up with nothing. We found countless Arc Raiders blueprints, epic weapons, and a ton of keys in that time - and we would have given it all up for some useless cogs.
Thankfully, during our search, we found what we were after, and through our investigation, we identified the locations with the highest chance of spawning rusted gears.
The best loot route to find rusted gears is:
- The Blue Gate: In the tunnels north of Checkpoint, there are a ton of breachable containers and cars. The best loot route for finding rusted gears was heading down through Reinforced Reception, north of the Checkpoint, making your way down through the tunnels and out on the eastern side, near the exfil points.
Other places we found rusted gears:
- Buried City: The car park east of the library building contains many breachable cars, which increases your chances of finding rusted gears. Be aware that drones can shoot through the sides of the building due to the fact that it has no exterior walls.
- Dam Battlegrounds: The Water Treatment Control building is a dense loot area, packed with draws and containers you can breach. As with anything in Arc Raiders, looting during a night raid will increase your chances of finding a rusted gear.
- Stella Montis: Loading Bay in the center of Stella Montis is an industrial area with a ton of lootable containers, with the only issue being the high concentration of Arc that have called this area their home.
Breach every single vehicle you can - we found rusted gears in both cars and in the back of buses - and try not to despair too much if one doesn't show up. It took us a few hours to get what we needed, and in the meantime, we filled our stash with all kinds of valuable loot.
Once you find rusted gears and the gunsmith has been upgraded to level three, you can start crafting all of those high-level blueprints that have been sitting in your inventory this whole time.
