Arma 3 campaign will report for duty October 31st

Arma 3 bohemia interactive

Arma 3 turned up at the parade ground on September 12th missing something. Its boots were firmly on its feet, a hat neatly balanced on its head at a perfect right angle. A rifle leant against its soldier, supported by a gloved hand. However, Arma stood there – like Walter White in the first episode of Breaking Bad – trouserless, Y-fronts exposed. Yes, that’s a poor metaphor explaining that Arma 3 shipped without a campaign. But worry not, the perfectly-pressed trousers are on their way, ready for parade on October 31st. It may be Halloween, but the only fear will be the fear of being sniped from 1000 yards by an enemy sniper.

The campaign will be split into 3 episodes, with each one containing new weapons, vehicles, objects and realistically scripted elements to the millitary sim. “Our first campaign episode, ‘Survive,’ introduces players to Ben Kerry, a regular soldier who’s part of a NATO peacekeeping mission in the Mediterranean,” explained Arma creative director Jay Crowe. “Following a couple of years of uneasy cease-fire, this US-led deployment is now in the process of a staged drawdown. The vacuum left by withdrawing forces is being rapidly filled by the opposing CSAT faction, creating the conditions for, one might say, a flashpoint.”

A handful of new screens show off some underwater action, night time operations and a ruggedly handsome British officer. They’re all the ingredients I want in my military FPS. Who needs recon dogs?
