Activision release first footage of The Walking Dead FPS

walkingdeadsurvivalinstinct042

Over the Christmas break, as we all took turns to sip gobfuls of sherry from the communal festive family bucket (as I can only assume all families do), Activision slipped out the first footage of its The Walking Dead FPS, which they’ve called The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. Personally I think it looks like a big old undead stinker, but check it out yourself below and draw your own conclusions. Maybe you actually like Terminal Reality’s vision of a zombie apocalypse run through a laminating machine.

Unlike Telltale’s much celebrated The Walking Dead games, Activision’s effort is based on the AMC television show and follows the undead misadventures of brothers Daryl and Merle. Survival Instinct has you choosing missions to undertake in order to keep your group of survivors alive, and will allow you to equip your AI buddies with weapons and tools. None of that management stuff is shown in the footage, which is a shame as it seems to be the game’s most interesting draw.

This hair looks familiar though.

Ah, yes, that’s right.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct launches some time this year, the future year 2013.
