Assassin’s Creed 3 microtransactions in the works

Two pound buffs have become synonymous with free-to-play lately, but Ubisoft’s last investor call saw the publisher talk up the place of microtransactions in its $60 mega-games. Sure enough, now we have confirmation that microtransactions are coming to Assassin’s Creed 3. They’ll appear as a side dish to the main meat of the game that players know and love – a sort of hors amour, if you will.

The news comes from Worth Playing, who’ve spotted updates to both PSN and Xbox Live referencing ‘Erudito credit’, purchasable in increments of $1, $2, $5, $10 and $20. We’d hazard a guess that the same will come to PC for its later release date in November.

According to the description, Erudito credit will allow you to “acquire some game items, disregarding your current level”. VG247 surmise that it’ll be used to buy items for use in the game’s multiplayer component.
