Nicholas Lovell, consultant and founder of games business blog Gamesbrief, is speaking at London’s Free to Play Summit today, advising both AAA studios and new developers on how to adapt to the still relatively new business model. But he also had some choice words to spare for Zynga.
“If anyone here gets approached to be bought by Zynga, expect to have them publish a game like yours within four months if you turn them down,” said Lovell.
Lovell seems to be alluding to the case of Nimblebit, who claimed that their iOS hit Tiny Tower was cloned by Zynga, in the form of Dream Heights.
In August, EA filed a lawsuit against Zynga in a “case of principle”. The suit was for copyright infringement, on behalf of Maxis, over “unmistakable” similarities between The Sims Social and Zynga’s The Ville.
