Halo 4 not coming to PC, say Microsoft; “Halo 4 was designed specifically for Xbox 360.”

Halo! Is it me you’re looking for? No, says the man at Microsoft. Definitely not.

“Halo 4 was designed specifically for Xbox 360,” a Microsoft rep told the Penny Arcade Report.

“And while we’re always exploring new ways to expand the franchise and share the Halo experience with as many fans as possible, we do not currently have any plans to port Halo 4 to PC.”

I don’t know if you remember, but the original Halo felt like a quintessential PC game. It wasn’t, of course – it was ported from the Xbox by Gearbox. But between its unprecedented AI and quite exquisite beauty, it had that nebulous something something that defines PC gaming*.

Halo 2 was the last of Bungie’s babies to get the bus to PC. Why? Because the series is still waved as a tantalising flag from the roof of the creaky Xbox 360. Certainly not because Halo 4’s Xbox-centric design makes a port a technological impossibility, silly Microsoft rep. We birthed first-person shooters, you know.

Thanks, Gamespot.
