Just when you thought it was safe to go into the game engine selection pool(?) Okay, that tailed out a little as I wrote it but you try and make game engines sound exciting.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, gather round and listen to a tale of contract agreements and long term appropriation rights. No, it just doesn’t have that ring. Well, I promise, I’ll have got it good and exciting after the break.

[Thunderous RUMBLES]

It was a dark and stormy night when Square Enix climbed the mountain path to Castle Epic Games. Each step was a challenge of games publisher over wet slippy step. With great effort the beast arrived at the gigantic door that barred entry to the castle.

Square knocked on the door.

[Knock, knock, knock]

“Epic? I’ve come for your engines” Square bellowed, “And I’m not leaving without a sweeping agreement supplementing my proprietary software that ensures my studio is armed with the most powerful game development tools and technologies available across all major platforms.”

“It’s an honor to provide your creative and technical talent with the best game technology available for licensing,” cam Epic’s reply from deep within the castle. “We look forward to supporting their developers with world-class tools for years to come.”

Out of the darkness, a think cloth sack sailed through the air and landed at Square’s feet.

“It’s a group-wide license to develop multiple games with my award-winning Unreal Engine 3 and its breakthrough Unreal Engine 4 technology,” said the voice.

Down in the village there was much rejoicing.
