Zynga COO resigns, effective immediately

Zynga

Zynga chief operating officer John Schappert has resigned today, the social games giant has announced.

Schappert’s parting “was not tendered in connection with any disagreement with the Company on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices,” said Zynga.

Schappert had previously served as COO at EA. His departure follows a marked drop in Zynga’s share value, as well as an executive re-shuffle last week which handed responsibility for the company’s games to people who weren’t John Schappert.

Earlier this week, EA filed a lawsuit against Zynga for copyright infringement, in a “case of principle”.
