Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s 360° trailer may be more impressive than the game

Assassin's Creed Syndicate 360° trailer

Ubisoft have kicked out a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, this time for the Jack the Ripper DLC that sees an older Evie Frye go toe-to-toe with the infamous Victorian serial killer. But this is no ordinary trailer. Oh no: this is a 360° interactive trailer that can be watched in VR.

An Assassin’s Creed title is in our list of the best PC games to play right now. Can you guess which one?

At its most basic, the trailer can be watched on YouTube and you can use your mouse to click and drag the image, seeing all around you in 360 degrees. While the trailer is ‘on-rails’, you can see the action from all angles as it happens around you. Watch intently as the Ripper scraps with an assassin, or simply turn around and check out the texture detail on those wooden sideboards.

At its most complicated, the trailer can be watched in virtual reality thanks to a combination of 3D and the Google Cardboard Viewer, which creates a faux set of VR goggles from your smartphone and a box.

Having not played the Jack the Ripper DLC I can only say this in a purely speculative capacity, but I think this trailer may actually be more impressive than the game itself. VR! In a trailer! What a time to be alive.
