Asus TUF Gaming VG249Q1R monitor deal

Here’s an amazing opportunity to grab yourself a great new gaming screen for an absurdly low price. This Asus gaming monitor deal at NewEgg enables you to get yourself an Asus TUF Gaming monitor for just $99.99, complete with a 165Hz refresh rate and even support for Asus’ ELMB tech to reduce ghosting effects.

The Asus TUF Gaming VG249Q1R, to use this monitor’s full title, has a surprisingly high spec for its current sub-$100 price, sharing features with some of the best gaming monitors available today. At the top of the list is its support for Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB), which cleverly strobes the backlight on and off in sync with your frame rate, reducing the ghosting effect between frames.

We’ve been really impressed by how well this technology works in our own tests, not least on this monitor’s 27-inch sibling, as we saw in our Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQ review. Like the VG27AQ, the 24-inch VG249Q1R also has an IPS panel, a technology that which we’ve found offers superior viewing angles and color accuracy to TN panels, as well as a 165Hz refresh rate.

However, bear in mind that this refresh rate figure is only reached by overclocking the display, as this is fundamentally a 144Hz screen. That’s still fast enough for most gamers’ needs, though, unless you’re a professional competitive FPS player.

Meanwhile, the 24-inch screen has a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, which isn’t huge, but offers just about the right pixel density for this screen size without the pixels looking too chunky. You also won’t need a really expensive graphics card in order to churn out decent frame rates at this resolution either. In fact, the Radeon RX 7600 will do it fine for under $250.

Meanwhile, support for FreeSync enables this monitor to synchronize its refresh rate with your graphics card’s frame rate, eliminating tearing artifacts, although you sadly can’t enable FreeSync and ELMB at the same time.

The big deal here, though, is the price. This monitor usually goes for $159.99, but you can now grab it for just $99.99 in this limited-time deal. You’ll need to be quick, though, as it will end later today (June 13, 2024).
