Tongue-in-cheek satirical strategy game Austen Translation releases next month – saving you from the black abyss that is singledom.

In Austen Translation, you play as a young unmarried woman of uncertain means who is closing in on her expiry date. You only have one social season to snatch up an eligible man and save your family from humiliation. Of course, in true Austen style, you must navigate dramatic rivalries with other bachelorettes eager to prove their worth and swoon-inspiring plot twists.

If you want to prove to your friends you’re the most radiant lady in the land, you can take them on in a “houseparty-style” multiplayer mode – which allows up to five players.

Austen Translation pokes fun at the world of Jane Austen, particularly the preconceived ideas of how men and women should behave. According to the game’s Steam description it “takes Jane’s genteel brand of satire and sends it over the top.”

Typically the game costs $6.99, but luckily for all you bachelorettes – saving for their dowry – there’s a launch sale price of $4.99 until May 7.

Austen Translation will release for Steam on May 1.
