Side scrolling Saturday-morning-cartoon MOBA Awesomenauts is picking up an expansion in the form of Overdrive. The DLC comes in two sections, a paid-for collection of new heroes, and free upgrades for anyone who already owns the game.
The £6/$9 buy-in price will recruit you Professor Milton Yoolip, a mech dinosaur-equipped time-travelling scientist, bounty hunter Chucho Krokk and his hyperbike, and twin babies Jimmy and Amy and their destructive death robot.
The free-side of the Overdrive expansion updates the game with new Matchmaking to replace the first-come, first-serve team making. Late joining matches will be removed, but reconnections will be permitted. There will also be leveling changes similar to those seen in the 2.13 patch.
Starstorm Station is a new map that will be added to the game after spending some time in pre-alpha state on custom matches. It’s a map with wormholes for some dangerous fun, and a bottomless pit below the action. A fourth hero, Ix the Interloper, will be added to the game, but he’ll be a freebie for everyone.
Awesomenauts: Overdrive is due in early 2016.
