Azeroth celebrates Pilgrim’s Bounty til December 2 with new cooking quests and achievements

Speaking as a yellow-toothed, literally-drinking-tea-right-now Brit, it seems a bit off to be envious of the Americans for their Thanksgiving holiday – what with the events of Assassin’s Creed III. The next best thing is to get involved with World of Warcraft’s Pilgrim’s Bounty event, which does the tables dominated by hunks of meat thing in an environment where literally everyone has the right to be thankful for the continued existence of the realm.

“It’s a time for reflecting on your journeys and good fortune and sharing plentiful food and stories with friends,” suggest Blizzard.

“Even during hard times, the Pilgrim’s Bounty celebration emerges across the lands of Azeroth, bringing with it the opportunity to reflect and give thanks for the nourishment the land has provided.”

The stories will have to be all yours, but it’s otherwise incredibly easy to partake – simply sit at one of the Bountiful Tables found near any of WoW’s major cities and towns and enjoy (watching your character enjoy) the feast.

The tables located in the cities will be buzzing with vendors, cooking trainers, and quest givers – while those found in minor towns will boast only a hostess. And there’s an achievement to be gained for sitting at the tables of your enemy’s capitals in the appropriate attire. Other achievements reward food-throwing and speedy turkey murder.

A series of cooking-related quests are tied to the festival, as well as a long list of seasonal items and recipes. You can find a comprehensive guide to those over at Wowhead.

More than anything, Pilgrim’s Bounty is reportedly an excellent entry point into roleplay, which I’ve never really considered for a universe as tongue-in-cheek as WoW’s. Yet a host of roleplaying servers have maintained respectable populations since its launch nearly a decade ago.

Have you ever roleplayed an MMO before? Once you’ve overcome that initial barrier of embarrassment, I know it can be a deeply rewarding way to play.
