It’s been a busy week for Battlefield Hardline, a game we until recently knew next to nothing about. Footage from six months ago was leaked, forcing EA and Visceral’s hand. They confirmed that the police-themed Battlefield spin off would be appearing in autumn after a proper reveal at E3.
Even though the full reveal will have to wait until next month, that hasn’t stopped EA from accepting pre-orders on Origin. It’s probably not a good idea to jump in so early, though.
The Origin store page for Battlefield Hardline lists it as £49.90/$59.99 for the Standard Edition and £59.90/$69.99 for the Deluxe Edition. No system requirements have been added yet, and clicking on the tab reveals only text that says “Coming soon”.
A short synopsis has been thrown up, however.
“Battlefield™ Hardline is a first-person action game set against the backdrop of the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals. Check back on June 9 at 1pm PDT for more information and videos from Battlefield Hardline, including a more detailed description of the bonus content included in the Digital Deluxe edition.”
I question the good sense of the increasing practise of accepting pre-orders when the store page is absent rather important details. The game hasn’t even been officially revealed. Anyone with an older PC won’t even know if they’ll be able to run it, and anyone ordering the Deluxe Edition will have to do so without knowing what they are actually getting. At least it’s not a pre-purchase, I suppose.
