Battlefield 4 Second Assault DLC brings back dune buggies and Capture the Flag

Battlefield-3-Gulf-of-Oman

If I were multi-national games corporation DICE, I’d be feeling a bit nervous about adding new stuff to a game in which the current stuff keeps doing backflips and killing players, and that’s just the walls. But woops, here comes that Second Assault DLC they promised fans months ago. On the horizon we can just about make out its four fan-favourite maps. And it looks like each has been treated with levelution, like an explosive baste.

In the video below, Mouth of DICE Patrick Bach explains that Second Assault contains new maps, weapons and vehicles, “like all expansion packs”. He was almost certainly referring explicitly to Battlefield, bless him, but it’s fun to imagine that Bach would be adding guns to SimCity and jeeps to The Simpsons: Tapped Out were EA to relocate him.

Anyway – let’s play the clip:

The four rejiggered maps are Operation Metro, Caspian Border, Gulf of Oman and Operation Firestorm – and with them come five ‘re-mastered’ weapons, a Capture the Flag mode and the good ol’ dune buggy.

It’s not dunes Second Assault will need to cross before it’s released on PC though, but timed exclusives for new consoles. The DLC lands on Xbox One on November 22. Are you happy to wait for it, or gnawing at the corners of this page in anticipation?

Thanks, PC Gamer.
