Battlefield 4 servers targeted in DDOS attack bringing crashes and resetting unlocks

The fun never stops for Battlefield 4 players. Along with a bugged launch and list of issues as long as Rapunzel’s hair, they now find that servers are crashing and their unlock progression is being reset. DICE are blaming a DDOS attack targeted at their servers. They’re currently working on a fix.

Players began complaining on Reddit yesterday. All told stories similar to Janitar1’s:

“Yup server I was on crashed, then every server in my list was showing up empty. Finally log into server, and low and behold all of my shit needs unlocked again?! I freaked out and checked battlelog but everything seems ok there… what in the fuck is going on? DICE PLEASE FIX THIS. Every update makes the game more and more unplayable its been a huge joke of a game.”

Apparently you can see lists of playable servers but they’re all registering zero players and there’s no guarantee that once you connect the server won’t crash shortly afterwards.

Worryingly if you do manage to get into a game you’re only able to access level one gear. It appears as though all your unlocks have been wiped. However, users logging into Battlelog are seeing that their unlock record remains unchanged, suggesting that as soon as the server issues are resolved player progress will return as normal.

One of DICE’s producers, going by the handle Striterax, posted an explanation for the situation on the Battlelog forums, saying ““we are being targeted by a DDOS, but working on fixing it asap. Im sorry somebody is ruining your and my day. Rest assured we are doing our best to mitigate the situation though.”

Frustratingly neither the official Battlefield or DICE twitter accounts are reporting the attack or providing details of when the servers will be back to normal.
