Planning on staring unblinkingly at your Battlefield 3 stats between the hours of 3pm and 8pm GMT today? Well I’ve got some bad news for you, madam: DICE have confirmed that the Battlelog service will be going offline between precisely those hours. But why?

Well, it so happens that Battlefield 3’s stat-minded social feed will be under maintenance until exactly one hour before EA’s E3 press conference at 9pm GMT, where it’s expected DICE will officially announce the launch of Battlefield Premium. EA’s as-yet-to-be-officially-said-out-loud answer to Activision’s Call of Duty Elite, Battlefield Premium is rumoured to deliver exclusive content to top-tier, moneyed Battlefield 3 players.

A leaked announcement trailer earlier confirmed features seen in apreviously leaked spec sheet, which touted a $50 one-off payment, two week advance access to DLC, exclusive double XP weekends and loads more lovely stuff. The service, if all this rumour-wrangling comes to pass, shouldlaunch at some point later thisevening.
