Blade & Soul Review

Does Blade & Soul make you feel like a ninja?

Not really, I played 3 classes (Force Master, Summoner, and Warlock), and none of them gave me this feeling.

Certainly, the gameplay style and the rapid pace of the combat with melee classes (Kung Fu Master, Blade Master, Blade Dancer) as well as the controlled and powerful playstyles of the ranged caster classes (Force Master, Summoner, Warlock) create a good sense of ninja-like sensibility.

How imaginative is the Blade & Soul lore?

133

The lore is OK, not very deep, but still a good one.

Quite in depth, the extensive nature of it as well as the continuous, open nature of it makes it that much more enticing to play as well as continue to enjoy and anticipate further developments. There are mysteries yet to be uncovered, but not to the extent that players are given yet another thing to figure out alongside all of the quests, making it enjoyable and anticipating.

How active is the PvP community in Blade & Soul?

The PvP is quite enjoyable apart from the bots that are farming there, but more often than not there are actual players which makes the PvP experience competitive and rewarding. The ranking system keeps the incentive for a lot of players going, although it could use some improvements.

B&S is all about PvP, sadly theres a ton of bots joining the arena, and farming the pvp rewards. Also, it is possible to find speed hackers very often.

How grindy is PvE in Blade & Soul?

133

Very, the leveling process until 50 is very fluid, then there something called Hongmoon Levels, and they are awful to evolve. Also, the weapons and accessories evolution system is very grindy.

The game seems to be ALL about grinding. For some, that might be too rigorous, and for some it's fun. The quests and the weapon upgrades get very difficult to obtain after level 50, however, particularly during the Hongmoon levels, at which point you have (presumably) progressed far along the story and require high level weapon upgrades to keep up with the gradually evolving enemies which prove to be difficult to farm without weapon upgrades.

Have you bought anything in Blade & Soul? How happy were you with your purchase?

Yes, I have spent some dollars on it, and didn't feel very rewarding.

I bought a premium membership for some time, and the rewards were indeed quite enjoyable, and the cosmetics certainly added an enjoyable aesthetic to the game.

How fair is the free-to-play model in Blade & Soul?

133

Its fair. buying premium or not, won't change much of the gameplay experience.

Quite fair, the features provided via platinum seem to only serve as boosts for players who don't want the rigorous grind as well as cosmetics assistance, meaning the game is still quite balanced.

How good are the graphics in Blade & Soul?

133

The graphics are OK for a 5 years old game, still the optimization is very limied.

For such an old game, the graphics seem up to date, manageable, and gorgeous on top of all that. The game seems very fit for the taste of many RPG players.
