The third major entry in Gearbox’s loot shooter series has anticipated for years, but the time for Borderlands 3 is nearly here. The developers have announced the last major milestone in the game’s development is now complete – the game has gone gold, so there’ll be no more delays between you and the Borderlands 3 release date.
Traditionally, going gold means that game has been finalised and sent off to get pressed onto discs, though that distinction has come to mean less in the digital age. For a game like Borderlands, it typically means the developers have moved onto work on early patches and post-launch content. (It’s 2019, no game is ever really complete.)

Borderlands 3 officially launches on September 13 as a timed exclusive to the Epic Games store on PC. It’ll hit other digital platforms in April 2020.
