Borderlands 3 hits Steam in 15 days

Borderlands 3's Epic exclusivity ends very soon

Borderlands 3

The Borderlands 3 Steam launch date is officially set, so all the Epic Games store hardliners out there can soon get their fix of looting and/or shooting. As previously announced, exclusivity for Borderlands is only set for six months, rather than the typical full year. And indeed, it’s going to be six months to the day.

Borderlands 3 hits Steam on March 13, 2020. (Which just happens to be a Friday the 13th. Spooky!) No worries about splitting the playerbase, as Gearbox has confirmed that you’ll get full cross-play between the PC versions. An upgraded SHiFT system will let you manage your friends list and join co-op sessions with no regard toward whether your group members are on Steam or Epic.

The game won’t launch with every cross-play feature out of the gate, though. Features like mailing weapons across platforms will roll out “in the weeks following the game’s launch on Steam,” as the publisher explains in a press release.

At last, we can finally stop asking “when is Borderlands 3 coming to Steam?” Loads of players have chosen to pick the game up on Epic, as the PC Borderlands 3 sales figures can attest, but now a whole new audience is opening up.
