Jack Black is no stranger to videogames – he played the starring role in Double Fine’s Brutal Legend, after all. Now it seems he’s staging a gaming comeback by announcing his new YouTube channel, Jablinski, which he claims is going to be bigger than Ninja and PewDiePie.
His initial video is a bit on the strange side, but that’s about what we’d expect from Black. He appears sitting in a gaming chair, which he spins toward the camera, showing off an impressive beard. In the background, you can see a couple PCs set up with what appear to be mechanical keyboards, proving that Black is a discerning player. After teasing Ninja and PewDiePie, Black cranks his chair back and the video freezes with his Instagram and Twitter information.
In the comments, Black claims there was “no production” behind the video and says he is now being held hostage by his son, who will not let him play as Tracer.
“Delete this,” wrote Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg.
Black may be playfully gunning for PewDiePie and Ninja, but he’s already off to a pretty solid start – his announcement video has racked up 4.5 million views in about a week, and the channel now has 1.4 million subscribers.
Without further ado, here’s the video:
Black says the channel will feature “games, food, and life,” but hasn’t specified which games he’ll be featuring. It seems likely that Overwatch is one of them, and Fortnite seems like a strong possibility as well. Perhaps 2019 will be the year of the long-awaited Ninja/Tenacious D crossover? Time will tell, and Black says he’ll be uploading videos each week on Friday. We’ll be staying tuned to see what he does.
