Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies has a factions system with quests

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII’s Zombies mode will have four factions, “complete with their own quests and narratives”. That’s according to Jason Blundell, co-studio head and senior executive producer at developer Treyarch, who was speaking at a panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

The factions are the Bloodfaith, Tempus Novi, the Dustborn, and The First Legion. Blundell says the system will add “a new layer” to the Zombies experience, asking players “who do you stand with, and what does that mean as you progress along that path?” And we know what you’re thinking: yes, you can fight the zombie tiger in the recent trailer.

The news comes to us via Activision’s blog post rounding up the highlights of the SDCC panel. COD newshounds CharlieINTEL were also live-tweeting the panel and plucked out a couple of other nuggets: apparently the Titanic that you’ll explore in the game is based on actual blueprints of the ill-fated ship, and the food on its tables is identical to what was actually served.

It also sounds like Zombies will feature in the new battle royale-esque Blackout mode, but it’s not yet clear how.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 release date is October 12 – a month earlier than the traditional November launch, perhaps in naked terror of Red Dead Redemption 2. For a roundup of everything else you need to know about the latest instalment in Activision’s irrepressible shooter, hit that link.
