Come with us as we explore a jagged rock far, far away, and complete the Black Ops 7 Zombies Astra Malorum easter egg main quest.

Oscar, a mini-boss in the Astra Malorum main quest easter egg, explodes.

How do you complete the Astra Malorum main quest? In a Treyarch Zombies map with tinges of Infinity Ward's Zombies in Spaceland, our Black Ops squad is headed to outer space in Astra Malorum.

This far-out Zombies map takes place on a strange Dark Aether planet after vehicular BO7 Wonder Weapon Ol' Tessie somehow transports the team through space. On arrival on the purple, glowing rock, they find an observatory, museum, and more, all of which are crucial to the latest Black Ops 7 Zombies easter egg. Here's how to complete the full Astra Malorum easter egg.

How to complete the Astra Malorum main quest

These are the steps to completing the Astra Malorum main quest easter egg:

  1. Follow the directed steps to unlock the PaP machine.
  2. Destroy one of OSCAR's UFO projectiles with a Packed weapon to obtain a Crashed UFO.
  3. Find and shoot a blinking lamppost with a Packed weapon to pick up Aberrant Wiring.
  4. Shoot Ol' Tessie's bonnet with a Packed weapon to get a Car Battery. Interact with the Electro-Volt Projector in the Luminarium to install the three items.
  5. Lure OSCAR towards the Luminarium and use the Electro-Volt Projector to kill him. Pick up the Shiny Trinket he drops. If you don't kill him, you can reactivate the trap in the next Round.
  6. In the Observatory Dome, shoot the gas valves as they power on.
  7. Interact with the Harmonic Oculus viewfinder on the left-hand side to use it. Focus the crosshairs on the Sun to activate a powerful ray.
  8. Lure OSCAR to the ray and use it to kill him. Pick up the Shiny Trinket he drops. If you don't kill him, you can reactivate the trap in the next Round.
  9. Interact with the viewfinder again and place the crosshairs on Mars. Make note of the four digits in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen next to 'DEC' - you'll need these later.
  10. Still at the Harmonic Oculus, you should also scribble down the symbols that appear on the screen to the left of the organ keys, as you'll need these later, too.
  11. Purchase the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod and use it to shoot purple crystals outside the museum. Collect three Absolute Zero Fragments that drop.
  12. Use them by interacting with the rocket in the Museum Infinitum.
  13. Lure OSCAR to the back of the rocket trap and use it to kill him a third time. He drops another Trinket and the LGM-1 Wonder Weapon.
  14. Pick up the bonesaw item found in a cabinet in Museum Infinitum. You'll need this later.
  15. With an OSCAR on the map, follow behind him stealthily so he doesn't see you. Stay close until a playback dialogue triggers, during which he speaks with Thurston. Note the three planets listed during the dialogue.
  16. Turn those three planets into numbers based on their order in the Solar System, and enter these, in the order they were listed, into the code terminal in the Observatory Dome.
  17. Entering the code lowers a platform above you. Pick up the Cryo Key from the corpse on the raised platform, then take it to the cryo chamber in Machina Astralis.
  18. Use the bonesaw on the body in the cryo chamber to obtain his brain.
  19. Take the brain to the canister in the Luminarium and swap it out for the brain already inside. Interact with the canister again to start a lockdown sequence.
  20. Once you have defended the brain for the entire lockdown, interact with the canister once more to pick it up. Now take it to the Machina Astralis where you'll be able to place the canister into the contraption (the Perfusion Machine) on the table.
  21. Make note of the four book titles that now appear on the screen to the left of the Perfusion Machine.
  22. On the middle floor of the Machina Astralis, you can now interact with another terminal. Enter the four digits you noted down at the Harmonic Oculus earlier.
  23. Locate three pieces of paper across the map and make note of which planet and ordinal direction is written on each. They can be found in the Machina Astralis, the Archive of Orbis, and the Luminarium.
  24. In the Archive of Orbis, find the books you previously made a note of in the shelves. You can interact with the shelves to make this easier. Use the busts to input the number of books in that area (a more detailed description of this step is below).
  25. Head up the ladder in the same room and collect a planet model through the trapdoor at the top. Take it to the top floor of the Machina Astralis and place it on the empty rod of the installment.
  26. Using the compass directions on the bottom of the globe light, shoot the three planets that appeared on your three notes until they match the directions noted on the paper.
  27. Head back downstairs to the brain canister and interact with it to start a lockdown. During this lockdown, you must protect the portal that has now appeared from OSCAR's UFO projectiles. Shoot them down before they hit the portal while also protecting yourself from zombies.
  28. Once complete, you'll be automatically portalled to a new location.
  29. Spoiler alert - welcome to Mars! Pick up the canister that is now on the ground in the central part of the area and bring it back to the machine near where you spawned on Mars. Interact to place and install the canister to trigger the next dialogue event.
  30. Now head to the back of the space and look out through the window where you'll see four poles. Shoot each in the following order: back right, back left, front right, front left. You'll see a flying object move to each as you do so.
  31. Next, shoot the metallic obelisk above the spawn portal to bring the winged object into the map area.
  32. Keep shooting the obelisk to keep the flying ball in the area until you have low gravity and the object flies down into the space, low enough for you to jump up and grab it. Place the item into the ancient structure in the southeast corner of the area.
  33. Now, match the symbols you noted down from the Harmonic Oculus earlier to the tall pillars around Mars' surface. Shoot the very top of them all with your Wonder Weapon, in order, causing the symbols on them to glow blue. Now go back in the same order again and interact with the symbols. Make it quick, as this is timed.
  34. That's it! Prepare to fight the boss, Caltheris, by stocking up on Gobblegums, Perk-A-Colas, and ammo, and interact with the brain canister once more to trigger the battle. This is a four-phase fight, and we've got some guidance below.

Archive of Orbis books

To complete the easter egg step in the Archive of Orbis, you need to note down how many of your reading list books are on each wall. Each wall then has a bust at the end. If only one book is on your list, interact once. If two, twice, and so on.

For example, let's say your reading list includes Ash and Bones, The Unknowable Void, The Black Veil, Silence At Singularity, and The Moon Directive. Looking at the shelves, you can see that Ash and Bones and The Unknowable Void are on the same wall, so interact with this bust twice. The Black Veil and The Moon Directive are together on another wall, so interact with this bust twice as well. Finally, Silence At Singularity is on its own, so interact with this bust just once.

Complete this step correctly, and you'll trigger a voice line. This step is timed, so it's best to figure out how many interactions each bust needs first, then go back and interact with them all in turn.

Mars pillars

Your symbols will be different to ours, but the main thing to keep in mind when looking at your symbols on the Harmonic Oculus is that there may be a missing one that appears as a soundwave. This just means that one of the pillar symbols won't match, but you can just use the odd one out in place of the soundwave.

Since this section is timed, again make sure you figure out your symbols and order before you start the interactions.

Caltheris boss fight

Caltheris is an incredibly tough boss thanks to its four stages. For the first, instead of shooting the head in the sky, you should instead kill zombies on the ground to power up two lasers. Power the first laser and activate it to deal massive damage to Caltheris. Charge and activate the second to deal even more, and then charge both for a third attack. Now, the boss releases a deadly gas, forcing you onto the smaller platform, making the battle far more difficult. Here, run backwards and forwards to avoid laser attacks until the boss is defeated.

Once downed, Caltheris returns on the map as a stone golem with an armor field. Take this down first to be able to deal damage to the actual boss. Now, this battle plays out like any boss battle - learn his attacks and shoot Caltheris' vulnerable areas where possible until he's dead.

To make your journey through the Astra Malorum main quest as painless as possible, make sure you equip the best BO7 Perk-A-Colas, each with their own top BO7 Augments equipped. Plus, you'll likely want to equip one of our favorite Black Ops 7 weapons to complement your Wonder Weapon.
