Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is finally out – and it’s a timed PS4 exclusive

PC players are going to have to wait

It’s official. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is real, and it’s out right now – but only on PlayStation 4. It’s an exclusive to the Sony platform for one month, and will come to Xbox One and PC on April 30. As the name – and the leak – suggests, it’s a campaign-only remaster, so you won’t get Spec Ops or traditional multiplayer here.

“Beginning with Modern Warfare last year, the focus has been to bring players together seamlessly in one unified online multiplayer playground,” Activision says in an official blog post. The company adds, “rather than release a separate, multiplayer experience as a standalone pack, Activision and Infinity Ward are looking to bring more classic map experiences to new life within the Modern Warfare universe as it continues to grow and build over time.”

The campaign-only edition of Modern Warfare 2 is available on PS4 for $19.99 USD, so expect similar pricing on the PC version when it finally launches. And expect to buy the new Modern Warfare if you want to play the classic multiplayer maps on modern servers.

Activision dropped the traditional timed-exclusive Call of Duty multiplayer maps, but PS4 players are still in the midst of a year of exclusivity for the Spec Ops survival mode, and now have an extra month to play the revised version of one of CoD’s most-loved campaigns.
