Dr Disrespect says he’s sticking with Twitch

While Ninja and Shroud have left for Mixer, the Doc says Twitch is still where the viewers are

Microsoft is making an aggressive play for the eyeballs that have been glued to Twitch for the last few years, hiring on superstar streamers Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins and Michael ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek to its platform Mixer. But at least one prominent streamer says he’s sticking with Team Purple, and that’s Guy ‘Dr DisRespect’ Beahm.

As The Loadout reports, as Doc prepared to start a 24-hour launch stream of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, he wished Shroud the best of luck with his move from Twitch to Mixer. However, Dr Disrespect had some choice words for Microsoft’s streaming platform, which he says is inferior to Amazon-owned Twitch in terms of viewership and features.

The Loadout also notes that Dr DisRespect took exception to Mixer’s attempt to poach Twitch’s biggest names, and also claimed Microsoft had approached him about just such a deal.

A viewer asked Doc about who might be leaving Twitch for Mixer next.
“I was the first one there, in Washington,” he responded. “Before [Ninja], before Shroud… They wanted the number one, and I said ‘wrong.'”

Here’s clip from the stream:

As The Loadout sagely observes, it’s worth taking Doc’s claims with one or two sizable grains of salt. Braggadocio and outlandish claims are part of his whole gimmick, so while it’s certainly plausible that Microsoft approached him about moving to Mixer, it’s probable he wasn’t really the first on their list – after all, he’s still Twitch’s ninth most-popular streamer.

But for now at least, he plans to keep things the way they are.

“[M]illions of minutes watched is the number one metric,” he said. “And that’s right here on Twitch.”
