Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Gunfight is getting 1v1 and 3v3 modes

An Infinity Ward dev has said the new Gunfight options are coming "at some point"

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

It looks like 1v1 and 3v3 options are heading to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Gunfight mode. That’s according to a tweet by developer Infinity Ward’s co-design director of multiplayer, Joe Cecot – though there doesn’t seem to be a fixed time to mark on our calendars for this just yet.

In response to a tweet asking whether the Modern Warfare devs were planning on introducing a 3v3 mode to the 2v2 Gunfight mode, Cecot replies: “At some point, also 1v1!” There doesn’t seem to be any information beyond this, but now players have confirmation there are plans to expand the mode some time in the future.

Gunfight is a pretty intense mode that sees two teams of two players pitted against eachother in multiple rounds, armed with randomly selected loadouts, which each player is given, and which change each round – and there are no killstreaks. If no-one is taken out in each round’s first 40 seconds, players are directed to the centre of the map. The first team to win six rounds wins.

Adding 1v1 and 3v3 modes into the mix will likely bring some equally intense and exciting new ways to tackle the mode. There aren’t any details just yet on whether the mode will be adjusted for the different options when they arrive.

There’s no release date for the 1v1 and 3v3 versions yet, but last week a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunfight Tournament beta launched, which is available for a limited time, and has a special weapon skin reward up for grabs if you’re keen for more Gunfight.

CoD: Modern Warfare’s first season also begins December 3, and will bring classic maps and new modes to the FPS for you to get stuck into.
