Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2 trailer leaks – Rust is back

The trailer reveals some of the maps and other goodies about to arrive in Modern Warfare - and Rust is making a comeback

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2 release date might have been delayed, but we can still get an idea of what the FPS game’s next update will bring ahead of its February 11 launch. The Modern Warfare Season Two trailer has been leaked online, and it seems a famous map from the series’ past is making a comeback.

The leaked trailer (via Charlie Intel) – which you can check out below – reveals several of the next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare season’s maps, weapons, and other features. Opening with a shot of Ghost, a Modern Warfare 2 Op whose return to the series was recently teased on Twitter, the trailer announces: “The War rages on”, listing “legendary maps, new ways to play, gunfight reloads”, and “new weapons” on the way.

Exciting news for fans of Modern Warfare 2, one of these “legendary maps” shown is Rust – its unmistakable tower set in a dusty desert oil yard is instantly recognisable from the 2009 title. The shots are only brief so it’s not clear if or how much of an update the map will get for Modern Warfare.

Another map featured is new to the series – Atlas Superstore. Set in fictional location “Verdansk, Kastovia” according to the trailer, it looks like an intense battleground space set among the ceiling-high crates and rigs of a warehouse, that seems suited to some rounds of Team Deathmatch and Domination.

In addition, there’s a new Gunfight map called Bazaar shown in the trailer, as well as a Ground War Map titled Zhokov Bone Yard, and some new weapons to try out. It’s not clear from the trailer exactly what these are, but according to a leak (via Dexerto) that recently popped up on the official Call of Duty website, it seems they’re the GRAU 5.56 assault rifle (“lightweight, manoeuvrable and full of potential”) and the Striker 45 submachine gun (a “hard-hitting and long-range SMG”).

The trailer also reveals an all-new battle pass is on the way for Season Two, which according to the recent leak will feature 100 content tiers and plenty of Operator skins, weapon blueprints, and other goodies (including Ghost).
