Clearly, the world is still excited for more battle royale games. In the space of 24 hours – in the middle of the week, mind you – the Call of Duty: Warzone player count has already topped six million. It’s no surprise to see a free take on Call of Duty register some impressive stats, but Warzone is poised to be the fastest-growing take on battle royale yet.
“What a day! 24 hours in and over six million of you have dropped into Warzone,” Activision says on Twitter. “Thank you – we’re just getting started.” There are no details on how the count breaks down across platforms, or how many players are jumping in via the mode in Modern Warfare versus the standalone client.
Either way, Warzone looks to have the fastest early rise of any battle royale game. The Apex Legends player count took one day to hit 2.5 million and three days to reach ten million, and the Fortnite player count took nearly two weeks to hit the ten million milestone. I’m sure Activision will eagerly reveal whenever Warzone hits that same record, and it could be very soon.
Warzone already made marks on Twitch, as a half-million viewers tuned into the game on launch day.
