Black Ops 2: Uprising Mob of the Dead trailer sends Ray Liotta to prison

Mob of the Dead is one of five maps found in Black Ops 2’s imminent Uprising map pack, but I can’t imagine any of the others are nearly so star-splattered as this. Welcome to Alcatraz, where you’ll be recast as the spitting image of one of four Hollywood gangsters: Ray Liotta, Joe Pantoliano, Chazz Palmentiri, or Michael Madsen.

The trailer for Mob, as we’ll affectionately call it, channels Boardwalk Empire like the ferry does Dover and Calais. In its first half, it’s determined to tell you all about not very much in overwritten fashion. But in its second, it manages to cover the gamut of its new features: Civil War era weaponry, some sort of ethereal speed ability, wall-blades, and ceiling sprinklers that pump out an unusually strong dosage of bright green acid.

As Billy Handsome, Al ‘The Weasel’ Arlington, Salvatore ‘Sal’ DeLuca and Michael ‘Finn’ O’Leary, Mob will ask four players to work together in finding the various parts of a plane needed to escape the infamous island. On their way, they’ll encounter new zombie types and perks, an Afterlife mode, and a charming Prohibition-styled HUD, just the way they used to be.

Uprising also features four PvP maps: ‘Magma’, ‘Encore’, ‘Studio’, and ‘Vertigo’. It’ll arrive on Xbox on April 16, and on PC about a month later. The whole thing looks like a compellingly expensive production for a DLC release, don’t you think?

Thanks, Black Ops Blog.
