Like all game developers, Treyarch start to sweat when the numbers get too high. A “technical limitation” already means that Black Ops 2 will have its FOV cap set to 80 on PC, and now the developers have slapped a framerate cap on ranked matches to prevent things from getting too hot.
“Yesterday I said that FPS would be capped at 120 for ranked matches,” said Treyarch’s PC community manager on Twitter. “The cap will actually be 200 FPS for ranked matches.
“This cap is needed to prevent monster rigs from degrading dedicated server performance. Frag on, please.”
