Not long now until October 21, the day Civilization VI releases. On that day we can work our way through history and into the modern age, waging war, building culture and researching technology as we go. Perhaps your PC is also from the past. If that’s the case, rejoice – you’ll probably still be able to run the Firaxis strategy game, thanks to some modest system requirements. 

Our list of the best strategy games should keep you going until the end of October. 

Publishers 2K revealed the system requirements in a Steam post, saying they “tested a variety of systems to ensure Civilization VI is as optimised as it can be”. It seems like they’re not messing around either, as you’ll even be alright if you’re running an old i3 CPU and a 1GB GPU.

  • OS: Windows 7 64bit / 8.1 64bit / 10 64bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3 2.5 Ghz or AMD Phenom II 2.6 Ghz or greater
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • HDD: 12 GB or more
  • DVD-ROM: Required for disc-based installation
  • GPU: 1 GB DirectX 11 Video Card (AMD 5570 or nVidia 450)
