When one of the PCGamesN team celebrates their birthday, we tend to mark the occassion with a few drinks, a curry, a few more drinks, and perhaps a small dollop of vomit at the end of the night. When 2K celebrates a game’s birthday, it pushes out a special, limited edition version. Sounds a little sophisticated to me.
Check out our guide to everything we know about Civilization VI.
Nevertheless, 2K’s PR department has handily reminded us that Sid Meier’s Civilization is now 25 years old, and to make sure everyone around the world is aware, it’s set to release a limited edition, special 25th anniversary version of Civilization VI, complete with scores of extra gubbins and gizmos.
Those gubbins include all bonus digital content found in the Digital Deluxe Edition, premium packaging, a commemorative coin set with display case, a “Civilization Through the Years” 100-Page hardcover art book, and a Aztec Civilization Pack pre-order bonus. It’s like the best episode of Sale of the Century ever.
“The vitality of Civilization is in the new ideas that each design team brings to the game as well as the passion and feedback from an incredible community,” offered Sid Meier himself, Director of Creative Development at Firaxis Games. “We hope players enjoy the vibrant living world and the new features the team has created in this latest offering. I’m proud of the work they’ve done, and I hope you will enjoy playing Civilization VI as much as they’ve enjoyed making it.”
Just 20,000 copies of the Anniversary Edition will ever be produced, meaning it’s likely to be rarer than a beef steak in a French restaurant. Civilization VI is due to launch on PC on October 21. No price has yet been given for the Anniversary Edition.
