Conan Exiles gets Zelda-esque climbing mechanics

Conan Exiles

That survival game with the meatheads just got a sizeable update, adding some fresh ways to tackle its challenges. Now, you’re free to clamber up fort walls and take on your enemies from within. There’s no need to call in a deity and knock their defences down, but do watch out for that hot oil they’re about to pour onto your face.

If you’ve played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Switch or Wii U, you’ll know what to expect. You can climb pretty much any surface, be it a tree, rock, or castle wall. The thing is, your clambering is governed by a stamina gauge – if you fall, you’ll probably die. The more armour you’re wearing, the quicker your stamina will sap.

Also, do keep in mind that people don’t take too kindly to burly people trying to break into their castles, so be prepared to face off against an arrow to the head or the wrath of a siege weapon.

On top of this, there’s been an overhaul of how the map presents locations to you, so it should be easier to explore. Perhaps this is another thing inspired by Zelda, as Nintendo’s game has one of the most readable maps around.

The full patch notes are on Steam and there’s a trailer up there.
