Watch ten minutes of explosive Crackdown 3 open-world gameplay

Crackdown 3

If you’ve played either of the first two Crackdown games, you’ll probably know what to expect from Crackdown 3: imprecise but fun gunplay, daft cars, the ability to throw daft cars, and plenty of jumping. Really, though, it’s a game about jumping – jumping around and collecting agility orbs so you can jump even higher.

Instead of focusing on the jumping, though, the latest slice of gameplay to be shown off is very much focused on the destruction. Oh, and beach balls. And it’s all narrated by a man who’s seemingly never seen a videogame before (he’s very excited).

One of the most impressive tools on display is the singularity gun, which spits out a black hole and pulls everything in before spitting it all back out again. I could do with one of those for my weekend trips up town.

It’s impressive how the game keeps up with the action, considering how busy it is. The real test will be multiplayer, however, which adds real-time skyscraper destruction and physics-based building toppling.
