Cyberpunk 2077 development is “far from over”

CD Projekt's latest might still have quite some time left to go

Cyberpunk 2077 has been a long time coming, and there’s still a long time yet to go before you’re going to be able to play it – even if that lengthy gameplay demo was looking very good. In a new video on the making of the game, CD Projekt Red makes it clear that “Cyberpunk 2077 may no longer be the mystery it once was, but work on it is far from over.”

More specifically, it’s Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt of Rivia, telling us that. Cockle adds with trademark gravel that “true to the promise made in 2013, it’s still coming when it’s ready.” If you were holding out an unlikely hope that the Cyberpunk 2077 release date was coming in the near future, you should prepare yourself to wait more than a little bit longer.

This is from the latest part of a documentary series on CD Projekt Red which has gone up over the past handful of days on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. Previous episodes have covered the early origins of CD Projekt, the rise of The Witcher’s popularity, and development of a standalone version of Gwent.

The Cyberpunk 2077 doc doesn’t offer much new detail on the game, but if you’re hungry for every bit of content you can get, you can watch it below.

You’ll need something to fill the lengthy days until the game’s release, at least.

We’ve seen various hints that Cyberpunk 2077 could be out in 2019, but those hints are far from certain. But if the game measures up to the quality bar CD Projekt set with The Witcher 3, that wait will certainly be worthwhile – especially if it means the developers won’t have to work themselves to death meeting that date.
