Dark Souls 2 was definitely an extremely good game that did indeed come out this year, and I said as much back in my Dark Souls 2 review in May.

DayZ snatching up Best Original Game is a bit of a surprise, given that it’s on Steam Early Access and still very much an unstable work in progress, emphasising how peculiar PC gaming has become.

Battlefield 4 is another surprise, getting the Best Multiplayer award despite a slew of problems. This, of course, hasn’t stopped it from being immensely popular, which is really what the awards are given out for.

What do you lovely lot make of the list?

Sound like a joke. These things usually are, anyway.

Come on, these are a total joke. I can't believe the choices here..

Pcgamesn should have a discussion about all/some of those categories in a topic of the week, so the users can discuss if you ask me!

I'll probably be doing something like that for Topic of the Week near the end of the year.

I look forward to it!

Man, i could give about 4 of these an agreement, or at least a pass. I understand people like different things, but some of these sound like trolling. Ubisoft?

I've tried to play DayZ a few times but can't stand the bugginess. Basic things like zombies running through walls, still unfixed even 11 months after i first bought it. I understand it's an alpha, but i also don't get how something so unfinished can win a bunch of awards.

I always end up playing ArmA 3's Wasteland mod instead. Zombies feel like a minor inconvenience in DayZ anyway, making it full PvP like in Wasteland (no zombies) feels more fun, imo. But hey, i have no golden joysticks to hand out.

I would go so far as to say DayZ is one of the worst, most pointless games I've ever played. Insanely broken.. when you run into someone they're inevitably a knobber and the mechanics geel like they were made in 1998. I genuinely don't understand why it's got so much love/press.
