Dark Souls II launching on PC on April 25th

Dark Souls 2 release date

Dark Souls 2 is out and we’ve given it a verdict in our Dark Souls 2 review.

While the console lot will be enjoying Dark Souls II next month, in March, we’ll have to wait a little longer. But how much longer, Namco Bandai has finally revealed.

It won’t be such a long wait, as we’ll be treated to countless “You Died” screens come April 25th when it launches through Steam.

When we previewed it a month ago, it was looking good, if familiar, and Namco Bandai producer Takeshi Miyazoe confirmed to that “graphics will be highly improved for people with high-spec machines” and that that will include “increased resolution options”.

Namco Bandai has also confirmed that it will run at 60FPS and that controls are being adapted for mouse and keyboard.

The first Dark Souls was a complete mess on PC. Poor controls, console-level textures, no optimisation and the dreaded GfWL. This time around, we’re being promised that much greater care is being taken with the port. No user-created fixes will be required, hopefully.

Although it’s launching digitally on Steam, a physical collector’s edition is also being planned. It will come with the Black Armor Weapon DLC set, a Dark Souls II t-shirt, art book, and, best of all, a cloth map.

Cheers, Siliconera.
