Dean Hall reveals that DayZ sales have reached “nearly 800,000 in under a month”

Nearly 800,000 copies of DayZ sold in under a month

DayZ’s infection rate is pretty impressive, especially considering its unfinished state. According to Dean “Rocket” Hall, Bohemia Interactive has shifted 800,000 copies of the zombie survival romp in less than a month, blowing his own expectations out of the water.

“Honestly, 250k within a quarter was what I would have considered a success. So to move nearly 800,000 in under a month is crazy,” Hall said on Reddit

DayZ was picked up 88,000 times a mere 12 hours after launching, hinting at the ravenous hunger of the hordes of waiting players.

Hall explains that, with Bohemia Interactive, he has ambitious plans for 2014, and that their roadmap will be finalised come mid-January. “We’ll be finalizing our roadmap in mid January, but it is safe to say that this kind of result will be having a very positive effect on that roadmap.”

I’m very much looking forward to playing DayZ further down the line, but I don’t have room on my plate right now for another game that’s still in development. Early Access is grand for all manner of reasons, but sometimes a chap just wants to play a finished product.

Have any of you lovely folk dived in, regardless? Have you fallen in love despite its flaws?

Cheers, Eurogamer.
