Bungie announce that only character personalisation will carry over to Destiny 2

Destiny Character Progress

Ahead the final live event for Destiny, Bungie have finally released some tangible details about character progression between Destiny and its sequel. In a blog post tiled “The Road Ahead”, the Destiny development team detailed how characters will migrate between games.

Here is everything we know about Destiny 2 and its potential future on PC.

As Destiny 2 acting as “the start of a new adventure for every player”, Bungie have settled on a solution which allows them “to serve both the game and the player’s best interests.” While players will be able to import the look of their Guardians to Destiny 2, all “power, possessions, and Eververse-related items and currency will not carry forward” to the sequel. They will all remain available in the original Destiny, so don’t worry about your sick stash of weapons suddenly disappearing.

There is a slight caveat on importing characters, as Guardians must have “achieved Level 20 and completed the Black Garden story mission.” From there, “class, race, gender, face, hair, and marking selections” will go forward to Destiny 2, with those characters gaining special honours to signal their accomplishments in the original Destiny.

Bungie hopes that this character import system will “introduce the major advancements and improvements that all of us expect from a sequel, ensuring it will be the best game we can create, unencumbered by the past.” With Destiny 2 heavily rumoured to launch on PC with a cohort of brand new players, this system stops veteran console Destiny players turning up to the sequel with all the best gear and tons of in-game cash to burn. Destiny 2 is rumoured to launch sometime this September.
