Fresh out of the font of fandom that is Blizzcon are two new videos of the upcoming Diablo 3 expansion, Reaper of Souls. The first video is a short clip showing footage of someone playing Adventure Mode, one of the new game type being added with the expansion. The second provides an overview of the new features and characters that Blizzard are working into their stats-heavy action game.
Adventure Mode is a new gametype which shows off the power of Diablo 3’s random dungeon generation. Each new game of Adventure Mode has the game create a small dungeon for you to explore. Games should take around the 15-minute mark to complete. We’ll face off against monsters torn from all areas of the original game’s story and the creepy crawlies found in the expansion, too.
See it at work here:
Clearly, from a brief trailer we’re not going to get much beyond saying “Well, it looks like more Diablo.” That’s sort of the point, though. Adventure Mode provides a quick bite of Diablo for when you’ve only a short time to play. The random generation of the dungeons will hopefully provide lots of replayability. Also, you won’t be farming the same tracts of ground over and over, like many players are doing in Diablo 3.
Next we have the features trailer. This one’s pretty self explanatory, the video’s a breakdown of all the new features planned for Reaper of Souls.
As with all Blizzard games it will be done when it’s done and so we’ve yet been given a release date for Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls.
