Disgaea 2 is free to try on Steam today, and on sale if you decide to buy

If JRPGs are up your alley, head over to Steam to find Disgaea 2 PC, which is free to try out for the next few hours. If the PlayStation 2 title’s zany mix of tactics and storytelling appeal to you, you can buy the game at a steep discount until tomorrow.

Disgaea 2 PC launched on Steam in January 2017, and the PC ‘definitive’ edition includes base game (subtitled Cursed Memories), plus the 2009 PlayStation Portable edition, called Dark Hero Days.

The Disgaea series has always had its own unique sense of humor and style, but the main draw here are the tactical battles, which are reminiscent of classics like Final Fantasy Tactics. The game features demons, has-been rock stars, and a “filthy little frog,” according to the Steam page.

To download and play, just head over to the Disgaea 2 Steam page and click “Play Game.” You’ve still got a couple hours left to try it for free, but if you enjoy it, you can buy it on sale for 55% off, or $8.99 USD. The sale ends tomorrow, September 10.

Here’s a trailer, which provides a peek at the strange world of Disgaea.

Steam users have generally liked the PC port of Disgaea 2, giving it a combined 87% favorable review score.
